Lunch and a Movie: Till (2022)

Lunch and a Movie: Till (2022) In-Person

Bring your lunch (beverages provided) and celebrate Black History Month with two great films that document crucial moments in the fight for equality. This searing film is based on one of the most devastating true stories of the civil rights era. In 1955, fourteen-year-old Emmett Till (Jalyn Hall), a resident of Chicago, goes south on a visit. Days later, his mother Mamie (Danielle Deadwyler) receives devastating news: her son has been found dead. It turns out that he was murdered for the "crime" of whistling at a white woman. Mamie dedicates herself to exposing the truth of her son's brutal murder and bringing his killers to justice. (Please be warned: due to the film's historical context, some characters use frequent racial slurs. Also, the movie shows Emmett's mutilated dead body, as Mamie did in real life to expose the injustice. Some viewers might find this disturbing.)
