Supposedly based on a true story (something that's been debated to this day), this movie introduces us to George and Kathy Lutz (James Brolin, Margot Kidder), who have recently bought a lovely house in Amityville, NY, for a knockdown price. This house was the site of a gruesome family murder only a year before, but that doesn't deter the couple from moving in with Kathy's children from a previous marriage. But the family soon begins undergoing horrific events—demonic voices, unexplained visions. Even worse, George seems to be losing control...to the point of violence. Is there really a diabolical influence present in the house, which caused the tragic murder...and will it claim further victims?
